Dear WWF Member:
Thanks for your support in 2009. We've had a great year together. Looking back, I think there were some real high points:
- We worked with Senator Barrasso to pass the Wyoming Range Legacy Act, protecting 1.2 million acres of world-class wildlife habitat in western Wyoming for future generations of hunters and anglers;
- We worked with Wyoming Fly Casters, a proud WWF affiliate in Casper, to provide expert testimony on the Lusby case, setting a precedent that will protect public access areas statewide for years to come;
- We joined with a broad coalition of groups to protect the Greater Little Mountain Area in southwestern Wyoming and fight for elk, mule deer, and Colorado River cutthroat trout habitat;
- We doubled the size of the Sportsmen's Action Network membership, from 1,000 to 2,000 concerned and active hunters and anglers;
- We completed two on the ground projects, removing fence on the Spence/Moriarty Wildlife Habitat Management Unit in June and building an exclosure around a waterhole near Cody to benefit sage grouse;
- We expanded our online presence, with the launching of the Home Place blog (http://www.wwfhomeplace.blogspot.com/) and our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Wyoming-Wildlife-Federation/107538388917);
In addition, we served as your advocate for hunters, anglers, and other wildlife enthusiasts in the Wyoming State Legislature and with our congressional delegation. We have represented you with the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission and with federal land management agencies like the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service.
It's an honor to represent you in all these venues and on all these issues. Please accept our thanks for your support. Today, I'm writing to ask you to stand up for the future of our outdoor heritage and do two things this holiday season:
First, sign up a friend to our Sportsmen's Action Network. We need more hunters and anglers to understand the issues and to act. If you can get just one more sports enthusiast to sign up, our collective voice will be twice as loud. It's easy - send them to http://www.sportsmensactionnetwork.org/.
Second, donate a few dollars to the Wyoming Wildlife Federation. A small donation of $25.00 will ensure that sportsmen and women like you have an ownership stake in this organization. It will also help us keep you informed about critical issues so you can make a difference for the future of our outdoor way of life. Go to www.wyomingwildife.org to make your donation today.
All of us here at Wyoming Wildlife Federation wish you happy holidays and a prosperous 2010.
Sincerely,
Walt Gasson
Executive Director
